Message from the CEO
CEO

Constant communication with key stakeholders is the
most striking and identifiable hallmark of how Makhubu
does business. In its many forms, communication is
central to our quest and ethos of building a client-
focused business. That is why, as the CEO of Makhubu,
I am proud to share a few of our guiding principles
with you. These ensure the financial stability of the
company together with a smooth continuity of business
operations going forward.

Primary to all operations, both staff and
management of Makhubu Logistics
share values that are geared to make our
interaction with clients most profitable.
As in our vision we aim to be the logistics
business of choice both in South Africa
and the Southern Africa region. To realise
our vision, we make our clients the
fulcrum and leverage point of all company
operations.

The financial stability of the company
and the continuity of business operations
foremost underlines our business
approach.

As first priority we are making a
considerable investment in safety
measures in order to minimise risk. Over
and above the measures that are in place
at Makhubu Logistics, we also invest in
our “Driver-Training Academy of
Excellence”. Drivers are the nucleus of
our business, and we make sure that our
drivers are equipped with a broad
understanding of their operations and
are able to understand the bigger picture.

Safety is a key strategic component in
our driver-training scheme. Going forward,

our experienced retiring drivers
at Makhubu Logistics continue to serve
the company as safety officers who impart
their years of knowledge to the new
generation of drivers. Thus, we are able
to develop a clear career path for each
driver, with a view to retaining their skills
within the company. This ultimately makes
a positive impact on client experience.

Our business model is designed to
maximise synergies with our business
partners, most prominently, our clients:

• We familiarise ourselves fully
with our clients’ goals and - to the
extent allowed by our client - we
participate actively in formulating
a comprehensive solution to their
needs.

• We build strong and mutually
beneficial relationships with our
employees. We want our employees
to be enthused, to treat their roles as
if their own businesses, and to be
incentivised to continuously improve.
We embed a culture of “catching
employees doing the right thing” and
give due acknowledgement.

• We respect and acknowledge the

communities within which we

operate. Our activities contribute
towards meaningful social
development (whether financial,
intellectual, or other).

• We respect and place considerable
value on the environment within
which we operate. Our environmentally
responsible activities are
measurable, monitored and
constantly improving.

•With due regard to influencing skills
development and equity ownership,
we procure goods and services
from individuals and entities that are
black, women or disabled.

• We maintain integrity in all that
we do and say. Our word is our
honour. There are and will be no
“comebacks”.

• To maintain professionalism across the
board, we strive to be reliable,
punctual, capable, consistent and
efficient, and to continuously
communicate with our client.

• We value the retention of clients,
and strive to keep our clients
happy through excellent service
delivery.

• We always maintain client
confidentiality.
These philosophical statements are more
than promises. They are backed by the
machinery of a smooth running and well
oiled leadership team together with a
methodically thought out strategic
platform based on leveraging the
following assets:

• The leadership, management skills
and experience of individual members;

• The total supply chain offering; and

• The capacity within Makhubu Logistics and its client base.

We commit to being a professional
organisation that consistently meets its
targets; accomplishes its undertakings;
is renowned for excellent and courteous
service; and adheres to the highest
standards of safety and ethics.
